How the PSI Score Works

Parker Sports Intelligence measures sport-specific cognitive processing for football and baseball. This page states the model so athletes, parents, coaches, and programs know exactly what they are buying.

1. Five pillars (fixed weights)

PillarWeightWhat it measures
Rules20%Multi-code legal literacy and enforcement implications
Reads30%Pattern recognition from partial information
Decisions30%Action selection under score, clock, and pressure
Math10%Expected-value and conversion-style reasoning
Language10%Precise professional lexicon and communication

2. PSI Score (0–200)

Model v1 (current production): percent correct within each pillar → weighted average (0–100) → ×2 → PSI Score (0–200).

Example: if weighted percent correct is 82%, PSI Score ≈ 164.

3. Estimated percentiles (pre-norming)

Until large empirical norms exist by level (HS / college / pro), displayed percentiles are labeled:

Estimated (pre-norming) — a model curve centered near PSI 100, not an NFL, MLB, or national cohort table.

We will replace estimates with level-specific norms when sample sizes support it. Marketing and reports must not claim NFL-normed ranks until those tables ship.

4. Position-specific batteries

Items include live animated graphics (play film / diamond plays) generated from each question’s image specification in the assessment app.
